The stone art of Metaxades is the art of special processing of local stone by specialized craftsmen with special tools, which was applied to the construction of buildings in the 19th century, bequeathing a unique architecture in the area of Evros. The echo of art was vividly reflected in popular culture. Today it is evolving dynamically, adapting to modern building standards.
It was registered in the National Index of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019.
